We like to see the bird life from the breakfast room window, but this morning guests were a little surprised to look out and see a duck staring back at them. Took him a while to work out how to get off again, having trouble taking off along a narrow ridge, but he managed it eventually.
First the Pine Marten discovered the feeder intended for the red squirrels (see previous post) and he's now a regular visitor (if you're booked to stay with us in the next couple of weeks be sure to ask if you'd like to see him).
Now the red squirrels have decided to move on to the peanut feeder intended for the birds.
It's not that the pine marten have scared the red squirrels off their feeder, they're on it every day as well and we keep it topped up, it's just that some squirrels seem to relish the challenge of hanging upside down trying to pull peanuts out through the wire.
