Went to Chanonry Point this afternoon to watch the dolphins. Took a packed lunch and sat on the beach. Was lovely. Saw the dolphins jumping out of the water but they were a long way away.

Red Squirrel Back In The Garden

Red squirrel was back in the garden today, not seen him for a week or so.

Ceanothus Survives The Ice

Back in January and February of this year the Ceanothus which grows outside our kitchen window was caked in ice for weeks on end. This photo really only shows the start of the ice, it gradually built up to be much thicker than shown here. We really began to wonder if this bush would survive, especially as one the ice had gone many of the leaves where brown and dead. We're delighted it seems to have come out of this bad winter completely unscathed and it is covered in stunning bright blue flowers again this week.

Woodpecker In The Garden

The woodpecker is around a lot at the moment. In previous years they've nested in the trees near us, hopefully they're doing the same again this year.
